History and Background

Founded: 2019
Founder: Obi Asika and Smade (Adesegun Adeosun Jr.)
Origin: The festival originated in Portugal, quickly becoming the world’s biggest Afrobeats music festival. The Miami edition was first held in 2023.

Afro Nation was born from the vision of two Nigerian entrepreneurs who wanted to create a space that amplified the global influence of African music and Black culture. What started as a beachside festival in Portugal has grown into a multi-continent celebration with editions in Ghana, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, and now, the United States.

Afro Nation Miami launched in 2023 and immediately made waves, drawing thousands of fans from the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond. With international stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and Asake gracing the stage, Afro Nation has cemented its legacy as the definitive global Black music festival.
