History and Background
The Richmond Jazz and Music Festival was founded in 2010 by JMI (Johnson Marketing, Inc.), with the vision of bringing world-class jazz and musical talent to Richmond while creating a platform for cultural celebration and community unity.
What began as a regional concert series quickly grew into a nationally recognized event, now hosting over 10,000+ attendees each year. The festival has hosted legendary performers like Chaka Khan, The Roots, Jill Scott, George Clinton, Herbie Hancock, and Erykah Badu, while supporting emerging artists and local Virginia talent.
The event has expanded beyond its musical roots to include:

- Vendor markets highlighting Black-owned businesses
- Health and wellness pavilions
- Youth and community engagement zones
Milestones:
