History and Background

Founded: 2013
Founder: Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC)

Bronzeville Summer Nights was launched by QCDC as a strategic initiative to drive economic development in the Bronzeville area by spotlighting local businesses and fostering community engagement. It began as a small business crawl and has grown into one of Chicago’s most culturally enriching summer traditions.

The event was born out of necessity and vision — to preserve Bronzeville’s historic role as a Black business and cultural hub while helping local entrepreneurs thrive in a modern economic landscape.

🌟 Key Milestones:

  • 2016: Expanded to feature curated art walks and live jazz performances
  • 2019: Included a tech pitch night for Black entrepreneurs
  • 2021–2022: Relaunched with enhanced safety protocols and a stronger wellness focus post-pandemic
  • 2024: Welcomed 10,000+ attendees and 50+ featured businesses across five event nights
